Texas Lottery Awards $2M to Scratch-off Player Shortly After Another Won $1M
Both winners chose to remain anonymous, which is allowed in Texas
The Texas Lottery announced the winner of a $2 million prize, but allowed him to remain anonymous. The lottery, however, revealed a few details about the winning ticket.
Frisco Player Wins $2M from Golden Riches
In its announcement, the Texas Lottery described the winner as a resident of Frisco, who won his mouth-watering $2 million prize from the Texas Lottery’s Golden Riches scratch-off game. Since Texas is one of the states that allows lottery winners to keep their anonymity, the winner did just that.
In addition to revealing the game that awarded the life-changing prize, the lottery revealed a few other details, such as the fact that this was the first of Golden Riches’ top prizes to land. At launch, the game featured four top prizes of $2 million, meaning that there are three more top prizes remaining.
The lottery also noted that the winning ticket was sold at Tom Thumb #2581, located at 4848 Preston Road, in Frisco. Thanks to the lottery’s Retailer Bonus Program, the store that sold the ticket will receive a $10,000 bonus.
Cleveland Player Took $1M Home
The win came shortly after a resident of Cleveland won $1 million from the lottery’s $1,000,000 Crossword game. This was the fourth of the six top prizes in that game, the Texas Lottery announced.
Just like the Frisco winner, that one also chose to remain anonymous. However, the Texas Lottery did reveal where the winning ticket was bought, saying that it was sold atTeddy’s Plum Grove, located at 7940 Plum Grove Road, in Cleveland. That store also received a $10,000 bonus for the sale.
Texas Mayor in Hot Water for Alleged Association with Illegal Gaming Den
Speaking of Texas, the local authorities just busted an illegal gambling ring believed to have been run by a local mayor and school administrator. The culprit was identified as Christopher Armacost, the mayor of Hitchcock, who had turned the backroom of a laundromat into a full-fledged gaming den.
During the raid, the police seized five slot-like machines and arrested two dozen people.
Armacost later commented on the matter, emphasizing that he intends to defend himself in court, emphasizing that the presumption of innocence is one of the core pillars of America’s legal system.
He added that he has been charged with these offenses as a private citizen and business owner, insisting that his work as mayor and school administrator has not been implicated in the charges. He also said that he refuses to fight this case in the media.
