Sportradar Launches Playradar as It Seeks to Capture Emerging iGaming Opportunities

Playradar will leverage Sportradar’s live and historic sports data and AV streams, combined with casino games, to create unique, in-house, hybrid products

Sports technology leader Sportradar announced the launch of a new brand that will deliver a fully-integrated ecosystem of cross-vertical gaming experiences to its clients. The new product is called Playradar and was lauded as the logical next step in the evolution of Sportradar’s online gaming business.

Sportradar Combines iGaming and Betting to Create New Experiences

Sportradar noted that the recently appointed EVP of iGaming, Edo Haitin, will be responsible for leading the launch of Playradar. With some 20 years of experience across online & live casino and executive leadership, Haitin will make sure that the new product achieves the intended results.

As for Playradar, the brand will leverage Sportradar’s live and historic sports data and AV streams, combined with casino games, to create unique, in-house, hybrid products.

Sportradar teased that some of its planned features include a Live 24/7 Experience Centre where players will be offered a game and a live stream to watch at the same time, on the same screen. The idea is to blend sports viewing and gaming to create new, engaging experiences, while providing customers with opportunities to engage with their peers and share tips and preferences.

In addition to that, Playradar will include Live & Historical Streaming Sports/Casino Hybrid Content that transforms sporting moments into interactive “event-driven gameplay.” This type of content will blend live and historical sports streaming with casino mechanics, resulting in another Sportradar live data-powered product.

Playradar will also offer Premium iGaming Content, such as virtual sports and a selection of casino games, ranging from slots and table games to arcade and crash titles.

Playradar Is Poised for Success

In its announcement, Sportradar emphasized that it is in the perfect position to grow its online gaming business thanks to its deep insight into player behavior, robust streaming capabilities, and global distribution network.

In addition to that, most of Sportradar’s clients are already companies that operate both sports betting and iGaming, which means that iGaming is a “natural channel” for long-term monetization.

Playradar will operate in regulated markets only and will have a strong focus on responsible gaming and integrity. The company said that game releases are scheduled throughout the year, with initial launches across the UK and the Americas.

Sportradar Trusts Haitin with the Future of Playradar

Edo Haitin, Sportradar’s EVP of iGaming, commented on the launch, saying that it will take advantage of Sportradar’s sports data, live streaming, and product development expertise to create unique hybrid content that capitalizes on the rising popularity of sports casino content.

I’m incredibly excited to be further strengthening our iGaming business through Playradar and to grow it into a leader in iGaming content, leveraging Sportradar’s existing resources and the highly experienced and skilled team already in place.

Edo Haitin, EVP of iGaming, Sportradar

Carsten Koerl, Sportradar’s founder & CEO, was similarly pleased, calling iGaming the next frontier for Sportradar. He explained that Playradar content is designed for cross-selling, allowing Sportradar’s partners to optimize player value.

Koerl added that he trusts Haitin to drive Playradar forward and capitalize on the opportunities iGaming offers.
