UFC Fight Night 250 Odds Favoring Sergei Pavlovich
Sergei Pavlovich is seen as a huge -310 favorite by BetOnline’s oddsmakers despite the fact that he lost his last two fights. That may sound strange, but before entering this losing streak, he was 18-1.
In fact, after losing to Alistair Overeem on his UFC debut, the Russian giant went on to win the next six fights, each by KO/TKO. This earned him a shot at the interim UFC Heavyweight Title, but he failed to take it – Tom Aspinall beat him by a KO in just 69 seconds.
Pavlovich had a chance to bounce back last June in the fight with his compatriot, Alexander Volkov. Unfortunately for Sergei, he lost by unanimous decision. It was a strike fest really, in which, somewhat surprisingly, Volkov landed more punches and kicks.
We say “surprisingly” because Pavlovich is famous for the high volume of significant strikes he tends to land. His average is 5.86 per minute, which is the second highest number among active heavyweights in the UFC (just behind Tom Aspinall).
Can Jairzinho Rozenstruik Knock Pavlovich Out?
Of course, he can! After all, this is a guy who won 13 fights by KO/TKO. He doesn’t land too many punches, but his strikes are incredibly powerful.
The evidence is that he’s got KO wins over some real tough fighters including Augusto Sakai, Junior Dos Santos, and Alistair Overeem.
Jairzinho is also famous for being a real warrior with a chin made of concrete. He only got KO-ed once in his career – it happened against legendary Francis Ngannou. Rozenstruik also has one loss by TKO in his portfolio, which happened against Alexander Volkov.
When it comes to his biggest weakness, it’s wrestling. In three of his last four losses, we saw him get taken down six times. But this shouldn’t worry him against Pavlovich, who prefers to fight upright.
Sergei Pavlovich vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik Prediction
Sergei Pavlovich has an Ape index of 1.115 – the highest in the UFC – meaning that his reach is surprisingly long. It’s 84 inches, which is six inches more than Jairzinho.
We think he will use this to his advantage to keep his opponent at a distance and prevent him from landing powerful punches.
Offensively, we expect him to go crazy with striking and land 100+ strikes in order to try and finish his rival. Will he succeed? Our prediction is that he will.
