Russian Gaming Resorts Expect Over 100,000 Visitors During May Holidays
Experts attribute the anticipated rise in casino visits to this year’s holiday schedule, which allows many Russians to turn the short gap between holiday periods into an extended vacation

Russia’s entertainment zones in Sochi, Kaliningrad, and the Altai region are gearing up for the long May holidays. They predict more than 100,000 guests will visit between May 1 and May 11, 2025. The Association of Operators in the Entertainment and Event Tourism Industry (AIRES) provided this estimate. It shows a small but noticeable rise from the 95,800 visitors recorded in the same timeframe in 2024.
Long May Break Sparks Tourism Boom in Russia’s Gaming Zones
Experts say the holiday calendar this year plays a big role in the expected jump in casino visits. With just three workdays between the two holiday periods, many Russians are taking the chance to enjoy a long break. This setup leads to more people visiting not only casinos but also hotels, restaurants, and local tourist spots.
Down south, the Krasnaya Polyana resort in Sochi hopes to match its visitor count from 2024, which was close to 35,000. While gambling is still the main draw, the place now offers more, such as fancy food events, live music shows, and themed cultural experiences. The organizers think these new additions will bring in more than just gamblers.
In Siberia, the Siberian Coin complex expects to see 10% more visitors. This prediction stems from a packed schedule of events. These include outdoor activities, the reopening of warm outdoor pools, and the yearly blooming of the maral plant, which draws many people to the area.
Sobranie Casino Expects Visitor Surge as Poker Tournament Draws Tourists to Kaliningrad
Over in Kaliningrad, a region in western Russia, the Sobranie Casino in the Yantarnaya gambling area plans to welcome about 20,000 guests. This number shows a 25% increase from last year. The main event during this time will be a big international poker tournament. The casino will also offer other fun activities to keep visitors entertained.
Dmitry Anfinogenov, the executive director of AIRES, says this upward trend shows how domestic tourism in Russia is changing. He points out that travelers today want varied experiences that mix luxury hotels, wellness facilities, great food, and unique cultural activities. He also mentions that gaming resorts have changed their operations to match these preferences, focusing on event-based ideas to attract and keep visitors.
As things pick up steam and with the groundwork laid, Russia’s entertainment resorts seem ready to make the most of the holiday travel boom. They offer visitors a mix of relaxation, culture, and excitement across their main gaming spots.
