Rapper Offset Was Shot Outside the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Florida

Authorities said the situation was quickly contained and that two individuals were detained in connection with the shooting

Rapper Kiari Kendrell Cephus, a.k.a. Offset, was shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock hotel and casino in Florida. His representative confirmed he was hospitalized and is currently in stable condition.

When Did the Shooting Happen?

The Seminole Police Department said that officers responded to an incident in a valet area outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood shortly after 7 pm on Monday. The incident left one person with non-life-threatening injuries, and they were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood for treatment.

Authorities said the situation was quickly contained and that two individuals were detained in connection with the shooting. They added that the investigation remains ongoing, the site has been secured, and there is no threat to the public. The casino’s operations are continuing as normal.

While this casino shooting ended without fatalities, unfortunately, not all of them end the same way. For example, just a couple of weeks ago, a man was shot dead in the parking lot of WinStar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma, after he allegedly pulled a gun on authorities.

His Colleague Wasn’t so Lucky

Offset first gained recognition as a member of Migos, the group he formed in 2008 alongside Quavo and Takeoff. Originating from Lawrenceville, Georgia, the trio achieved massive success in the 2010s, becoming both major pop culture figures and one of the decade’s top-selling music groups.

Songs like “Versace,” “MotorSport,” “Stir Fry,” and “Walk It Talk It” became lasting hits, while the Atlanta rap anthem “Bad and Boujee” reached the top of the Billboard charts and helped launch them into mainstream fame. While no official announcement was ever made, the group was widely believed to have disbanded by 2022.

However, it could be said that Offset came out lucky from the shooting, unlike his former group member, Takeoff, who was shot dead at the age of 28. The incident happened outside a bowling alley in Houston back in November 2022, where he and fellow Migos member Quavo were playing dice.

While some rappers are getting shot in front of casinos and bowling alleys, others are winning at blackjack while in prison. Controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, is currently serving a three-month prison sentence for violating his supervised release. However, he managed to win $50,000 at blackjack after crypto betting platform Rainbet, for which the rapper is an ambassador, had been sharing videos of him playing.
