Radio Show Host Provides Advice To Almost Bankrupted by Spouse Caller
In a recent episode, Dave Ramsay advised a caller on how to handle their husband's gambling addiction

Recently, Dave Ramsey had a caller ask for his help on how to deal with her husband’s sports gambling addiction.
Ramsey has been hosting “The Ramsey Show” since 1992 and is now among the most listened to radio talk shows in the US.
The woman described the situation she had found herself in after finding out that her husband had lost almost all of their savings on sports betting.
She stated that only after she had received a late tax payment letter did she think to inspect their balance.
The money he had lost to betting was apparently supposed to be for their retirement. The woman declared she was 69 years old, while her husband was at the ripe age of 79.
Possible Solutions to a Heavy Problem
The woman stated that her husband had allegedly claimed that he would quit gambling.
Ramsey’s advice to her had been to either contact a lawyer or a divorce attorney and for the woman to place restrictions on her husband.
Ramsey afterward had this to say on the matter:
“Both can give you a framework by which you lead them into an ultimatum, and the ultimatum is: you stop cold turkey, you are going to Gamblers’ Anonymous, and you are going to a therapist.”
Ramsey has suggested that the woman should warn her husband with a threat of leaving him should he makes another bet.
Warnings by Ramsey on the topic of sports betting have been frequent.
He described it as the fastest-growing addictive problem in the money world.
A report, showcasing extremely low odds for winning at sports betting, has been released on Ramsey Solutions.
A Shrinking Epidemic
A survey conducted by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) has shown that gambling issues have potentially subsided since their peak during the COVID-19 epidemic.
The president of the NCPG has commented on the results shown by the survey: “This new research shows that the nationwide efforts in responsible gambling and public awareness are making a positive impact, but the work is far from over.”
