Powerball Prize Reaches $147M as NY Player Narrowly Misses the Jackpot

The winning numbers for yesterday’s drawing were 12, 18, 47, 56, and 63, plus the Powerball 1

A player in New York has narrowly missed the Powerball jackpot, only to win $2 million instead. In addition to that, a separate player won half a million dollars thanks to the 10X Power Play multiplier.

Powerball’s Top Prize Remains Unclaimed

Yesterday’s drawing once again failed to bring down the Powerball jackpot as players across America could not match all six winning numbers required to win the game’s top prize. However, a bunch of players came close and were rewarded for doing so.

The winning numbers for yesterday’s drawing were 12, 18, 47, 56, and 63, plus the Powerball 1. The Power Play modified in play was 10X. If a player had successfully matched all these numbers, they would have won a prize of $135 million if they chose the annuity option or $61 million if they went with the one-time lump sum option.

While no one was that lucky, a single ticket holder in New York succeeded in matching all five white numbers to win the game’s second-tier prize. While the reward for matching the white numbers is usually $1 million, the money the player took was doubled to $2 million thanks to the Power Play feature.

In the meantime, eight players successfully guessed four white numbers and the Powerball. Seven of them scored prizes of $50,000 each, while the other one took $500,000 thanks to the 10X Power Play multiplier that applies to this prize tier.

In the meantime, the jackpot grew to $147 million with a cash value of $66.6 million. The next Powerball drawing is set to take place on Wednesday, March 25.

The Previous Prize Landed in Arkansas

For context, the previous Powerball jackpot was won earlier this month when a player in Arkansas succeeded in matching all six numbers, which netted them a life-changing $251 million.

In the meantime, a viral claim circulating on the internet states that the notorious Jeffrey Epstein won an $85 million Powerball jackpot in 2008. According to the claim, the late magnate and pedophile won the prize from the drawing that took place on July 2 that year.
