Poker Palace in North Las Vegas to Open Its Doors Again in 2026
Truckee Gaming wants to give North Las Vegas’ Poker Palace a complete makeover, starting with a redesigned exterior, updated interiors, and a new main entrance
The Poker Palace, a staple in North Las Vegas for many years, is getting ready for a big change with new owners. Truckee Gaming, based in Reno, has settled on plans to buy the place, close it for a while, and open it back up after a complete redo in 2026.
North Las Vegas’ Poker Palace to Shut Down for Renovation Under New Ownership
The casino, which started operating in 1974 and stayed in the Coleman family’s ownership for over 50 years, will shut down on October 1. The closure will affect around 126 workers, as stated in a state filing. While most hourly workers will lose their jobs, some managers and salaried staff will move to other Truckee properties during this change.
Truckee Gaming, which already runs 10 casinos across Nevada, views Poker Palace as a crucial chance to grow in the Las Vegas area. The company now operates Club Fortune in Henderson, along with a few smaller casinos in Fernley, Yerington, Dayton, Verdi, and other towns in northern Nevada.
At a recent meeting with the Nevada Gaming Control Board, representatives from Truckee shared their plans for the property. They want to give the place a makeover, including a new look for the outside, updated insides, fresh carpets and ceilings, and a main entrance that lines up better with the parking. They are looking to make the casino floor bigger, fix up the bathrooms, and add more office space for the team.
Food offerings are getting a big upgrade, too. They are planning to make the kitchen bigger to support a fast-food spot with 32 seats, as part of their push to freshen up the food options. The Truckee representatives pointed out that Poker Palace had not seen much investment for a while, and these changes are meant to make it a stronger contender for local customers.
First Las Vegas Investment for Truckee Gaming Moves Forward With Poker Palace Project
Pete McHugh, Truckee’s chief operating officer, informed regulators that they aim to update the casino with new slot machines, better systems, and improved amenities. He thinks this will help draw more customers. He also said that putting money into both the property and its services is key to the company’s plan.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board has already given the thumbs up for Truckee’s limited license. Now, the Nevada Gaming Commission will look over the purchase. After the remodel is done, Truckee Gaming will come back to get final licensing approval before they open Poker Palace again in mid-2026.
The project is Truckee’s first direct investment in Las Vegas, showing trust in the North Las Vegas locals’ market. Even though the Las Vegas Strip had a tough year, casino earnings in North Las Vegas grew a bit. This growth highlights the potential Truckee sees in breathing new life into the old venue.
