Pennsylvania Publishes January Gaming Report, Highlighting Spike in iGaming

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course was at the top with total revenue of $111.5 million for January 2026, up 20.18% year-on-year

Pennsylvania’s gaming revenue has celebrated an increase in January, according to the state’s latest report. Official data highlights online casinos as a major contributor to the Commonwealth’s gaming performance during the first month of 2026.

Pennsylvania’s Gaming Industry Remained Strong

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board just published information about the performance of the state’s gaming industry, highlighting a double-digit increase in overall revenue. Official metrics show that the state’s combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming along with fantasy contests reached $590,644,755. This figure notably marks an increase of 11.64% from January 2025, the board noted.

As a result of this strong performance, gaming operators paid $249,969,629 in taxes.

Additional metrics show that slot gaming remained stable, recording $189 million in revenue, up 0.67% year-on-year. Land-based table gaming reached revenue of almost $76 million, marking an increase of 2.8% compared to the prior-year period.

At the same time, iGaming revenue in January 2026 skyrocketed to $249.3 million versus $210.2 million in January 2025. This change is equivalent to an increase of 18.62%.

In the meantime, Pennsylvania’s sports betting sector recorded handle of $782.4, down 10.39% compared to January 2025. However, the taxable revenue figure for January 2026 was actually 38.63% higher at $71.4 million. For comparison, Pennsylvania’s sports books reported January 2025 handle and revenue of $873.1 million and $51.5 million, respectively.

At the same time, fantasy contests experienced a 29.92% decline in revenue to $1.9 million, while video gaming terminal revenue remained stable at $3.2 million.

Hollywood Casino Stood on Top Thanks to iGaming

In terms of operators, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course was at the top with total revenue of $111.5 million for January 2026, up 20.18% year-on-year. Valley Forge Casino Resort came in second with $105.8 million in revenue, up 8.18% year-on-year. Rivers Casino Philadelphia rounded up the top three with $57.2 million in revenue, up 11.63% year-on-year.

The biggest changes, however, were experienced by Presque Isle Downs and Casino, the revenue of which increased by a staggering 56.76% to $14.6 million, and Mount Airy Casino Resort, whose revenue declined by 13.7% to $15.9 million.

Despite a seasonal decline of $2.47%, Parx Casino stood on top in terms of casino slots revenue at $29.2 million. Wind Creek Bethlehem, meanwhile, occupied the top spot when it came to table game revenue at $21.2 million up 8.94% year-on-year.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course was an undisputed leader in iGaming with online casino revenue of $96.2 million, which was a major contributor to its overall business.

Valley Forge Casino Resort, on the other hand, was first in terms of sports betting, with $276.3 million in handle and $27.7 million in betting revenue.

Marquee by Penn was the leader in VGT gaming with $2.2 million in revenue, while DraftKings was the DFS leader with $1.2 million in revenue.
