PA Lottery Player Wins $1.5M from Scratch-Off Ticket

The Pennsylvania Lottery said that the still-unknown winner won the prize from a $30 Cash Spectacular ticket

The Pennsylvania Lottery announced that one of its retailers has sold a ticket worth $1.5 million. The lucky ticket landed in a women’s hospital in Pittsburgh, according to the announcement.

The Ticket Was Sold at a Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh

Lottery officials added that the fortunate Allegheny County ticket holder bought their ticket at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, 300 Halket St., Pittsburgh. The store is set to receive a $10,000 for selling the ticket, per the lottery’s policy.

The Pennsylvania Lottery added that the still-unknown player had chosen a Cash Spectacular ticket. For context, Cash Spectacular is a $30 game where players can win prizes of up to $1.5 million. In this case, the winner grabbed one of the game’s top prizes.

As of the time of this writing, there are still eight top prizes of $1.5 million remaining in the game. In addition to that, there are also three second-tier prizes of $150,000 that have yet to be won.

The overall chances of winning any prize from Cash Spectacular, including break-even prizes, are 1 in 3.57, according to official Pennsylvania Lottery data.

PGCB Fined BetMGM

In other Pennsylvania-related news, the local regulator, PGCB, just fined BetMGM over insufficient know-your-customer procedures across its betting platforms. The lax controls led to the platform being exploited by fraudsters, who played with fake accounts and illicit funds.

The PGCB also placed 16 people on the state’s involuntary self-exclusion lists. Four of these people were banned from gambling due to the fact that they visited some of the state’s casinos while leaving their children unattended in the casinos’ parking lots.

Leaving minors unattended is strictly prohibited in Pennsylvania as it entails significant risks.
