Offset Gambling Debt Stories Emerge Shortly After the Rapper Was Shot
Offset’s debts quickly became the subject of online jokes, with one X user joking that the rapper got shot, and instead of people sending prayers, multiple people came forward with stories about how much he owed them
A few days ago, GamblingNews reported that the rapper Kiari Kendrell Cephus, also known as Offset, was shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock hotel and casino in Florida. In the following days, people came forward with stories about his gambling debts, while others started using the tragic incident as an opportunity to highlight problem gambling as a growing problem in the US.
Offset’s Could Have Had Gambling Problems
Offset’s shooting took place outside the Hard Rock casino on Monday evening. Reports say that his condition was stable and non-threatening and that he was being treated at the Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.
The story made headlines and in the following days, people from all walks of life started sharing their thoughts on the matter. These numerous stories alleged that Offset owed money to many people and suggested that he might have had gambling problems.
For example, people were quick to highlight that Offset is said to owe $10,000 to rival rapper Lil Tjay. In addition to that, people emerged with stories about further debts that Offset had. These included former NFL athlete Dez Bryant, who said that Offset owed him $8,000. A separate report, meanwhile, says that Offset owed $100,000 to a casino in Detroit and was sued over it shortly before getting shot.
Many People Said Offset Owed Them Money
Offset’s debts quickly became the subject of online jokes, with one X user joking that the rapper got shot, and instead of people sending prayers, multiple people came forward with stories about how much he owed them.
More than ridicule, however, the story seems to suggest that Offset might have had gambling problems. The fact that he was shot outside a casino, paired with the story about his $100,000 debt to a Detroit casino, seems to back this narrative.
If that is the case, this wouldn’t be the first time a person in a position of fame has had a complicated relationship with gambling. Lil Baby, another famous rapper, previously lost almost $9 million to gambling in a single day, causing him to self-exclude and vow to stop gambling.
Drake, on the other hand, continues to make headlines with his passion for placing huge wagers, many of which turn out to be losing ones, causing people to joke about the existence of a “Drake curse.”
