New York Lottery Unveils Another Million Dollar Raffle Winner
Walters chose to receive the prize as a one-time, lump sum payment of $612,247
The New York Lottery announced that a player from the Jamaica neighborhood has won the top prize from its Million Dollar Raffle that took place on October 26. As a result, the lucky player became one of the latest millionaires minted by the lottery.
Jamaica Player Wins $1M
In its announcement, the NY Lottery confirmed that the winner was Shaurna Walters of Jamaica. As mentioned, the player in question claimed a $1,000,000 top prize from the Million Dollar Raffle draw on October 26, 2025. The ticket in question was among the 15 selected to win a $1,000,000 cash prize as part of the raffle.
For context, the promotional Million Dollar Raffle served to commemorate the Erie Canal bicentennial.
While the NY Lottery did not reveal many details about the winner, it said that Walters chose to receive the prize as a one-time, lump sum payment of $612,247. Lottery officials also noted that the winning ticket was bought from J & E Dynamic Store located at 147-14 Jamaica Ave. in Jamaica.
In the meantime, other top-prize tickets landed in Chenango, Dutchess, Genesee, New York, Schenectady, Suffolk, and Westchester Counties. One of the other Million Dollar Raffle winners, according to a previous announcement, was Amritpal Singh of Painted Post, who also went with the lump sum option.
Additional NY Lottery winners include a Delaware County player who won $1 million from Powerball, as well as a Suffolk County player who took a $1,000 A Week For Life second prize for matching the first five numbers in the December 31, 2025 CASH4LIFE drawing. That player also opted for the lump sum, taking home $648,102.
More Lottery Players in the US Win Big
In other news, a player from Michigan just became Lucky For Life’s latest top prize winner. When presented with an option to receive $25,000 a year for up to 20 years or a lump sum of $390,000, the player went with the latter.
In an interview with lottery officials, the man said that he plans to use the money to buy a house and share the rest with his family.
In the meantime, Powerball and Mega Millions players won seven-figure sums after narrowly missing the two games’ top prizes.
