Nevada Gambling Operators Post Solid Gaming Win in January
While gaming win increased by nearly 13% year-over-year, the latest results were positively impacted by a significant growth in the revenue from Baccarat games

The gambling industry in Nevada is off to a stellar start of the year, the latest revenues and collections report by the state’s gambling regulator reveals. On Thursday, the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), the gambling regulator in the state, released the latest financial update, highlighting that gaming win last month soared by nearly 13% year-over-year.
Tax Collections Increase Along with Gaming Win
Per the newly released data, nonrestricted gaming licensees across Nevada reported a total gaming win of $1.44 billion for January this year. A year-over-year comparison to the corresponding period in 2024 points to an increase in the gaming win of 12.54%.
Not unexpectedly, Nevada posted strong results for the fiscal year-to-date period, which in this case would be July 2024 through the end of January 2025. In total, the gaming win for this period hit $9.29 billion, a result that signaled an increase of 0.03% year-over-year.
The increase in gaming win resulted in a notable growth in tax revenue for January. Taxes collected by the state in February, based on the taxable revenue in January, hit $108.7 million. A comparison to the $99.7 million result from January 2024 shows that this year, an increase of nearly 9% is observed.
A significant increase was observed in the gaming win derived from Baccarat games during January. Per NGCB’s data, operators reported $215.2 million in gaming win from Baccarat. The result showed a whopping growth of 119.49% year-over-year.
Las Vegas Strip Gaming Win Soars
A breakdown of the $1.44 billion in gaming win reported in January reveals that the biggest share of revenue was reported by Clark County, the home of the Las Vegas Strip. Downtown Strip revenue dipped by 2.29% to $83.8 million, while North Las Vegas operators reported an increase in gaming win of 5.37% to $23.8 million. Mesquite operators recorded gaming win of $17.4 million, up by 9.68%, while the gaming win reported by Boulder Strip and Laughlin operators decreased by 6.20% and 4.96% respectively.
Elsewhere, Washoe County reported an increase in the gaming revenue last month. Operators in the country recorded $90.1 million in gaming win, a result that marked a 2.73% increase year-over-year.
