NC Man Turns $10 Scratcher into $1M Payday

A lucky man from North Carolina has turned a $10 scratch-off ticket into a huge payday, according to a recent release by the North Carolina Education Lottery. The player won one of the top prizes of a game that debuted earlier this year, the lottery said.

The Man Chose the Lump Sum Option

In its official release, the NC Education Lottery revealed the lucky winner as Adrian Locklear, of Lumberton, Robeson County. According to the lottery, the man had bought a 50X The Cash ticket from Moe’s Mini Mart, a store on Prospect Road in Pembroke.

After scratching the ticket off, Locklear realized that he had won one of the life-changing $1 million top prizes. He later visited the lottery to claim his winnings and selected the lump sum option of $600,000, instead of the annuity of $50,000 over 20 years. After tax, he took home $430,503.

For context, the 50X The Cash game was launched in January and featured six top prizes of $1 million. As of the time of this writing, there are two $1 million prizes remaining.

Other NA Players Win Big

In other news, a man in Illinois just won $200,000 from a 7X Bingo Multiplier ticket. While the man revealed that this was not his favorite game and that he purchased a ticket because his go-to game was sold out, he was happy to have done so. In an interview with the lottery, the man said that he will invest in his retirement and set up an education fund for his grandchildren. Additionally, he is considering treating himself and his wife to a cruise in the Gulf and a trip to France.

In Ohio, a lucky lottery player won $300,000 from a $10 White Diamonds scratch-off ticket. This was notably the ticket’s top prize. The winning ticket was sold at Norton BP, which received a $3,000 sales bonus.

In Canada, an Ontarian couple won $34 million while cashing in a ticket on a date night. While the win took over three decades of marriage to materialize, it was certainly a welcome development for both players.
