Naked Man in West Virginia Casino Charged with Murder
Police in West Virginia had to deal with a strange case after a man whom they arrested at a casino was also charged with first-degree murder
Police is generally not someone to taunt while appearing in front of them in your hat and shoes – nothing more. The strange incident took place at the Mardi Gras Casino in West Virginia, where the naked man confronted police in the most bizarre manner possible.
Naked Man Quickly Discovered to Hold a Much Darker Secret
The person, identified as one Thomas Jeffrey Lawson Jr., reportedly went into one of the casino’s bathrooms and emerged back onto the property wearing only his hat and shoes.
He was duly taken into custody for public nudity inside the casino, but police added first-degree murder to his charges in the Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
According to authorities, the man had also killed his father, Thomas Lawson Sr. The incident reportedly took place on Saturday, as confirmed by McDowell County Sheriff’s Office detective Randall Johnson Jr.
The perpetrator arrived at the casino at 5:30 pm on that day, and has been known to be a regular. During the investigation, other details became apparent. For one, Lawson Jr. had also been known to be a problem gambler.
Lawson Jr. is suspected of murdering his father during a rendezvous they were supposed to have.
Police was tipped off about Lawson Jr.’s missing father by the father’s spouse, who placed a call to 911 at 10:30 pm on Saturday. By that time, the son was already in custody.
Further investigations examined the scene where the father and son were supposed to meet, only to discover the body of Lawson Sr.
According to his spouse, who first tipped off police, the man was afraid of his son, but wanted to be a good father, so he went to meet with his son – the two were supposed to cut wood. Lawson Sr. had already been deadwhen police found him, shot in the back at least six times, with a chainsaw lying idly beside him.
