Misdemeanor Charge Puts NFL Player’s Million Dollar Contract in Danger

The arrest of a Minnesota Vikings player for trespassing in a casino in Florida coil cost him his million dollar contract

The arrest of an NFL player could jeopardize his $17.5 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

Jordan Addion was arrested for trespassing in the Hard Rock Casino in Florida.

Seminole Indian Police took Addison into custody at 3:46 am on Tuesday.

He has since been charged with a first-degree misdemeanor, “trespassing in an occupied structure or conveyance”.

Police records show that officers booked Addison at around 7 am. A few hours later, he was released with a $500 bond.

Jordan Addison is a wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings. He was their first pick at the 2023 NFL Draft.

The only way now for Addison to receive the $17.5 million promised to him is if the Vikings trigger his rookie deal fifth-year option before May 1.

Words from the Head Coach and the General Manager

Kevin O’Connell, the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, chose not to speculate on Addison’s situation without having all the facts.

O’Connell had this to say on the matter: “We have to get as many facts and find out exactly what happened.”

On Tuesday, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the general manager, shared that when it comes to Addison, the team was “supportive”.

He refused to voice an opinion about the player’s future with the Vikings.

Adofo-Mensah described Addison as someone who is “a joy to be around” and who, most days, was a Viking, as well as someone who is “incredibly intelligent, confident, and responsible.”

He followed up by stating that he was just a human.

When it came to the Addisons’ arrest, however, Adofo-Mensah had this to say:

“Obviously, that’s something we have to consider when you’re talking about long-term ramifications of a contract extension or different things like that.”

The Player’s Previous Clashes with the Law

Jordan Addison has been arrested a few times throughout his NFL career.

Over a year and a half ago, police in LA detained him under the assumption that he had been driving under the influence. After the Vikings player accepted his penalty, the charges were lowered to only “wet reckless”.

Addison was ordered by the court to pay a $390 fine and complete two online courses to halve his 1 year probation.

At the beginning of 2025, the situation in La led the NFL to issue Addison a three-game suspension due to personal conduct policy violations.

All the way back in 2023, a Minnesota State Patrol officer cited Addison for speeding and driving recklessly, having gone almost 100 mph in a zone with a 55 mph speed limit.

The court dismissed the reckless driving charge, but he still received a $686 fine after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge.
