A lucky woman in Michigan has won the $1.1 million jackpot from the lottery’s Lotty 47 game. In an interview with lottery representatives, she said that she had been playing the game for decades and was excited to finally have her big moment.

The Winner’s Loyalty Finally Paid Off

In its official announcement, the Michigan Lottery said that the jackpot landed on March 21 when a lucky ticket holder matched the six Lotto 47 numbers drawn. The winning numbers for that drawing were 4, 18, 20, 26, 27, and 31, with the winner turning out to be a 65-year-old Bay County woman.

For context, the winning ticket was sold at Beson’s Supermarket, located at 1480 South Huron Road in Kawkawlin, roughly 10 miles northeast of Bay City.

While the winner chose to remain anonymous, she did talk with Michigan Lottery representatives about her win, revealing that she went “absolutely crazy” when she found out how much she had won. She told the lottery that she started playing the Lotto 47 game decades ago and quickly became a regular who would buy a ticket every Wednesday and Saturday.

The woman said that she was watching TV when her neighbor texted her to tell her that the shop she frequented had sold a jackpot-winning Lotto 47 ticket. At the time she dismissively thought that it was unlikely that she was the winner in question. As it turned out, she was wrong.

After my show ended, I checked my ticket and went absolutely crazy when I found out I was the winner! I called a few family members and my neighbor to tell them the big news. Winning is such a blessing. I feel like I can breathe again!

Lotto 47 winner’s statement

The Michigan Lottery noted that the Bay County woman visited the lottery HQ to claim her winnings, opting to take the lump sum payment of $762,000 rather than the annuity option for the full sum. She told lottery representatives that she planned to save the money.

Scratch-off Ticket Awards $700K to Antrim County Player

The Lotto 47 win came only a few days after another woman in Michigan became a millionaire thanks to the lottery. That player was revealed to be a scratch-off ticket enthusiast from Antrim County.

In its official release, the Michigan Lottery said that the woman won the $1 million prize from the Golden Key instant game. In an interview with lottery representatives, she said that she was also a regular player, who considers scratch-off tickets to be a part of her routine.

The winning ticket was sold at the Family Fare, located at 240 South Lake Street in East Jordan. The lottery also said that the woman chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000.
