MGM China Unveils New RG Education Program for Employees

The MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Program was rolled out last week and seeks to provide MGM China team members with a “more extensive, sustainable, and efficient platform of RG promotion”

MGM China announced the launch of a new program that will expand its employees’ understanding of gambling harm. The company celebrated the launch with a special ceremony that featured many noteworthy guests.

MGM China Unveils the MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Program

According to MGM China’s announcement, the MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Program was rolled out last week. This new initiative seeks to provide MGM China team members with a “more extensive, sustainable, and efficient platform of RG promotion.”

To that end, the program will leverage a variety of activities, including roadshows, pop-up interactive games, online quizzes, training and courses to expand employees’ understanding of problem gambling and how to counteract it.

MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Program’s ultimate goal, according to MGM China, is to “contribute to the establishment of a balanced, stable, and sustainable society.”

The Opening Ceremony Was Attended by Many Notable Officials

MGM added that the program is organized by its team with the advice of the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) of Macao SAR, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) of Macao SAR, the University of Macau (UM), and the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU).

At the same time, the program is co-organized by the Macao Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM), Macao New Chinese Youth Association, Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office, Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home, and the Youth Volunteers Association of Macao.

The program’s opening ceremony took place at MGM COTAI and was attended by what MGM China called “a strong line of guests.” These included the following:

  • Yang Yi – deputy division head of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government of Macau.
  • Aster Ng – head of the Division of Studies and Information Analysis of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ)
  • Bonnie Wu – head of the Division of Problem Gambling Prevention and Treatment of the IAS
  • Gin Cheang – director of the Centre of Moral Education of DSEDJ
  • Davis Fong – director of the Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming of UM
  • Wang Chang Bin – director of the Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies of MPU
  • Choi Kam Fu – vice chair of FAOM
  • Wong Chi Choi – chair of the Macao New Chinese Youth Association
  • Ip Kam Bo – service director of Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office
  • Vong Chao Peng – president of the Youth Volunteers Association of Macao
  • Pak Kin Pong – director of the Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre
  • Tian Han – executive vice president of gaming operations & strategic marketing at MGM
  • Wendy Yu – executive vice president of human resources at MGM.

A Dual-Track Approach to Safer Gaming

Tian Han, MGM’s EVP of gaming operations, commented on the new program, thanking all organizations that have joined forces with MGM to launch the MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Program.

Tian said that the new program will go “hand in hand” with the existing MGM RG Community Engagement Scheme, creating an “internal and external dual-track” approach to safer gaming.

In conclusion, MGM reasserted its commitment to leveraging diverse and innovative approaches to teach its members to understand the importance of safer gambling.
