MGA Warns Two Gambling Websites Are Illegally Claiming a Maltese License

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) issued a public warning after discovering that two gambling sites, lavbet321.com and kasinoseta.com, were wrongly claiming to be licensed in Malta. The Authority stated that claims implying these platforms are approved to operate in Malta are untrue, and warned that unlicensed websites present significant risks to consumers who use them for gaming services.

MGA Warns of Unauthorized Gambling Websites

The MGA reported that both websites portrayed themselves as being connected to the Authority or implied they possessed Maltese licenses. The regulator clarified that these assertions were deceptive and did not represent the sites’ true status. The announcement forms part of ongoing efforts to curb the impact of unlicensed operators targeting players both within Malta and internationally.

According to the MGA, unauthorized operators do not comply with the obligations set out in Maltese law. As a result, they fail to meet the required standards for consumer protection, fair play, and responsible gambling that licensed platforms are obliged to uphold.

In its notice, the MGA cautioned the public that dealing with unlicensed operators involves increased risks, as these entities are not bound by the safeguards and legal requirements set out in Malta’s regulatory system. The Authority urged players to check an operator’s licensing status before making use of its services. It also highlighted that a publicly available register of authorized operators is maintained, allowing consumers to verify whether a platform is legally permitted to provide gaming services under Maltese law.

The MGA Prioritizes Player Protection In Its Future Plans

Licensed operators are required to adhere to rigorous compliance standards that protect consumers, promote fair gameplay, and support responsible gambling measures. The Authority emphasized that unregulated platforms do not provide these safeguards. The MGA noted that safeguarding players and monitoring unlicensed operations will continue to be key priorities.

It also recently outlined its revised regulatory focus for 2025, reaffirming that enforcement, oversight, and consumer protection will remain central to its mandate. The MGA added that it will persist in closely observing unlicensed activity while bolstering safer gambling efforts among licensed operators.

As part of this idea, recently, the MGA also introduced a new self-assessment tool to help individuals evaluate their gambling behavior. According to the regulator, the tool offers personalized guidance and, when necessary, directs users to appropriate support services.
