Merkur Completes Acquisition of Gaming Arts, Cementing US Re-Entry

Merkur lauded Gaming Arts as a “pioneer in technological innovation” in US gaming, celebrating its cutting-edge slots, games, bingo and keno solutions

German game maker Merkur announced that it has completed its acquisition of Gaming Arts, LLC, a Las Vegas-based provider of gambling technology. The transaction was announced earlier this year and subsequently approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission.

Merkur Wraps Up Its Takeover of Gaming Arts

In its official announcement, Merkur confirmed that its takeover of Gaming Arts was successfully closed on September 15, 2025. Merkur highlighted this as an important development that will help it return to the US gaming market and reinforce its presence outside of Europe.

Merkur lauded Gaming Arts as a “pioneer in technological innovation” in US gaming, celebrating its cutting-edge slots, games, bingo and keno solutions. The German group also praised Gaming Arts’ firm commitment to compliance and understanding of the American market.

To top it all off, Gaming Arts boasts licenses in some 155 jurisdictions and has robust experience that will spearhead Merkur’s return to the US.

According to the announcement, the two companies’ merger will inject Merkur cabinets into Gaming Arts’ product offering.

A Great Opportunity for Both Companies

Executives celebrated the agreement, highlighting the opportunities it brings to both companies. According to Dominik Raasch, a management board member at Merkur, the deal will facilitate Merkur’s re-entry into the US after the company was granted a license to manufacture and distribute products in Nevada.

Last but not least, Merkur Group’s management board chair, Lars Felderhoff, reasserted the fact that the acquisition of Gaming Art will serve as a gateway to the US market.

Earlier this week, Merkur suffered an information leak as hackers continued to target the gambling sector. More recently, Boyd Gaming suffered a similar incident in which employee data ended up being compromised.
