Mateusz Gamrot Seen as (Narrow) Favorite

Mateusz Gamrot’s strongest weapon is wrestling. The Polish fighter is a former two-time European champion in submission wrestling, who’s averaging 5.25 takedowns per fight. So far in his UFC career, he’s landed 43 TDs, which is the second-highest number in the Lightweight Division, just behind Rafael Dos Anjos (47 TDs).

The problem for Gamrot ahead of the UFC Vegas 107 fight is that Klein is the No. 1 active lightweight when it comes to takedown defense (95.2%). Does this mean he’ll have to use another weapon to win the war at Apex?

He might, as he’s a pretty decent striker. He lands 3.23 significant strikes per minute, which is great, but the problem is that he also gets hit a lot (3.22). This could cause him trouble on May 31 when he’s fighting Klein, who’s a hell of a striker.

Ludovit Klein Going All-In on May 31

This is Ludovit Klein’s biggest fight ever. He’s never defeated such an elite opponent as Gamrot, and winning on May 31 would get him inside the Top 15 in the UFC Lightweight Division. 

He’s undefeated since 2021, winning six fights and drawing one since then. He suffered just one takedown in those seven fights, which is a testament to his wrestling skills. Most of those fights went the distance, which is proof that he’s got a great gas tank. More importantly, this guy knows how to fight smart.

Klein is a tactical fighter who doesn’t take any unnecessary risks. This explains why six of his last seven fights went the distance.
