Our prediction is that the 2025 Manchester Derby is going to be a real banger. The thing is that neither team has started the new campaign in top gear, so they’re both desperate for points. This goes especially for the Sky Blues, who lost their last two Premier League games.

Manchester City Need to Up Their Form ASAP

Last season, Pep Guardiola’s men finished third in the Premier League, their worst finish since 2017. During the summer, they took part in the FIFA Club World Cup but didn’t do much – they got knocked out by Al Hilal.

Then, the EPL came back in late April. They started the new campaign with a 4:0 win over Wolves on the road, but then lost two games in a row – 2:0 to Tottenham at home and 2:1 to Brighton away.

That’s a very bad start for a team that has title ambitions, which means that they need to start taking things way more seriously. The good news for them is that in the Manchester Derby, they should have a couple of their key men back after injury problems – Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol, etc.

Plus, they’ll have a new keeper between the posts. Gianluigi Donnarumma has joined the club on the last day of the summer transfer window, with Ederson leaving for Turkey the same day.

Manchester United’s Defense Looks Very Leaky

The Red Devils are 1-1-1 in the 2025-26 Premier League with four goals conceded. That may not seem too bad, but the fact is that they allowed two goals against Burnley at Old Trafford in their most recent league game.

Plus, we also saw them lost to Grimsby – a team from League Two – in the Carabao Cup. They lost on penalties after 2:2 in regulation. Andre Onana was dreadful in the cup game, but so was his replacement, Altay Bayindir, in the three Premier League games he’s played so far.

Man United’s midfield, however, has been doing okay, especially creative players like Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, and Bryan Mbeumo. However, their strikers haven’t been very productive. Joshua Zirkzee, Benjamin Sesko, and Matheus Cunha are still without a single goal since the Spring.

Manchester City vs. Manchester United Prediction

Manchester City will win this; we’re almost 100% sure of that. Their defense with Donnarumma at the goalie position looks more than qualified to keep the Red Devils at bay. Their offense, despite not being in top shape, should do fine against Man United’s leaky defense. That said, a win by one or two goals looks like the most likely scenario.

Pick: Manchester City to Win to Nil
