Man Dies From Gunshot Wounds Following Nugget Casino Incident
A 35-year-old-man involved in a shooting incident at Reno-Sparks’ Nugget Casino has lost his life due to gunshot wounds; the police have asked potential eye-witnesses to come forward with any information
The police have opened an investigation into a shooting incident that took place at the Nugget Casino Resort in Reno-Sparks, Nevada, over the weekend.
The incident resulted in a man succumbing to his gunshot wounds.
According to initial police reports, the deadly incident, which marks the first homicide in Washoe County’s city in the current year, appears to have been caused by a fight between two individuals.
They both carried firearms.
Altercation Between Two Armed Men
The shooting took place at roughly 5 a.m. on March 16 when Sparks Police Officers were coincidentally responding to a routine call for service at the casino located at 1100 Nugget Ave.
While approaching the hotel, officers heard the sound of multiple gunshots coming from the lobby area.
Once they entered the casino, police officers discovered a 35-year-old man who had been shot multiple times at the west end of the lobby.
The man, whose identity has not yet been revealed by the authorities, was immediately transferred to a local hospital.
There, despite doctors’ attempts to save his life, the man succumbed to his injuries.
While investigating the scene, officers learned that a second, 19-year-old man had been dropped off at the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Detectives are now handling the case. At this stage, law enforcement believes the shooting to be an isolated incident and reassures the public that there is no ongoing threat.
The Sparks Police Department has asked anyone who may have witnessed the events or has information related to the case to come forward.
Witnesses are encouraged to get in touch with the Sparks Police Detective Division at (775) 353-2225 or provide anonymous tips by calling the Secret Witness line at (775) 322-4900.
Casino Shooting Incidents, In Bloom
At the start of the week, we reported on the alleged shooting incident at Circus Circus Hotel & Casino on the Strip that proved to be false, according to police reports.
Also, in March, we spoke about the arrest of a young man suspected of involvement in a shooting incident that took place in the parking lot of Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sacramento, which resulted in one injured victim.
As expected, not all shooting incidents at casinos are tied to legal venues. At the end of December 2024, two men were shot in what police believed to be a botched robbery at a Queens-based illegal gambling establishment.
In August, we reported on the story of three men suspected of their involvement in an armed robbery at an illicit gambling den in Dallas, Texas, that led to the death of one person and the injury of another.
