Las Vegas Homeless Man Run Over and Killed by Drunk Dotty’s Casino Visitor

After leaving Dotty’s casino under the influence a man crashes his car into a homeless shelter killing a homeless man.

A patron of Dotty’s casino has been arrested for allegedly crashing their vehicle into a homeless encampment, resulting in a loss of life.

Court documents show that the defendant has left the establishment intoxicated from excessive alcohol consumption.

Following this, the man proceeded to take off in their vehicle while still under the influence.

The incident occurred on December 19 at around 7:20 PM on a Friday.

The name of the defendant is 24-year-old Elijah Brown

Documents describe how, while at the southeastern part of Las Vegas on the Warm Springs Road, Brown was in his 2007 Honda Accord.

First hitting the center median, documents describe the vehicle then proceeded across several eastbound lanes and finally left the road, and 1,000 feet later crashed into the homeless encampment.

The name of the unfortunately deceased, who had been living inside the encampment, is Nicholas Sunday, aged 61.

Emergency medical services pronounced him dead on the scene as the vehicle had rammed and left him pinned underneath.

Police Gather Evidence

Police took Brown’s testimony while he was getting light injury treatment.

Brown told them that he believed the reason for his sudden loss of control was a possible brake malfunction.

Brown was found to have been carrying an electronic marijuana device and a pill bottle, which raised suspicions.

The legal blood alcohol level in Nevada is 0.08, while toxicology shows that at the time Brown was 0.144.

Whenever a life has been lost, and the driver is suspected of having been impaired while operating the vehicle, police may opt to have the suspect undergo blood tests rather than the standard breathalyzer.

A blood test requires a warrant, and a qualified medical professional needs to administer it.

In addition, these tests are more likely to hold up in court.

Faced with the Consequences of One’s Actions

On December 20, Brown appeared in Court, where the judge set his bail at $100,000.

His Preliminary Hearing will be on January 6; until then, Brown will stay in police custody.

No cases have been brought to Dolly’s casino as they are not liable for a case under Nevada’s laws.
