Kalshi Taps Associated Press for Election Data
The world's largest prediction market platform has partnered with a news agency boasting nearly two centuries of electoral data expertise to enhance its election coverage experience
Kalshi is continuing to expand its media partnerships, this time teaming up with the Associated Press (AP) and tapping the news agency’s vast data resources to help improve its US election tracking and markets.
Kalshi, hailed as the world’s biggest prediction market platform, will now draw from AP vote count data and race calls specifically, covering national and major state elections, with the data integrated directly into Kalshi’s product suite.
Kalshi Vows to Become the Premier Place to Experience the Elections
AP Elections VP David Scott has welcomed the opportunity to see the AP leverage a hallmark and time-tested product with today’s consumers through the integration with Kalshi.
Scott added that AP has been providing electoral data for nearly two centuries and has been touted as an accurate source of results for election nights.
“We’re pleased to be working with Kalshi as we work to expand the reach of AP’s trusted elections data, meeting audiences where they are with reliable information about who voters have chosen to lead their country and communities,” he further noted.
Kalshi is only keener to strengthen its understanding of electoral tracking, with the platform often touting its own success in correctly placing the winners of a race. The website saw as many as 500 million visits during the 2024 Presidential election cycle.
Kalshi Seeks to Burnish Its Election Data and Insight Credentials
Commenting on this opportunity, Kalshi’s Head of Politics, Jaron Zhou, similarly expressed enthusiasm for the alliance between the two companies.
Zhou said that Kalshi is aspiring to be the premier destination for people seeking to experience the elections.
“Kalshi’s election forecasts help campaigns and everyday citizens track market expectations for election outcomes, and integrating AP’s live vote count data enhances Kalshi’s election night experience by bringing together real-time vote tallies and market activity,” he added.
This is not the first time Kalshi has pursued similar data deals, with the company already teaming up with several other outlets as well. The company announced individual partnerships with both CNBC and CNN, integrating data partnerships with the two media giants.
