Kalshi Eyeing Brazil Entry as Platform Gains Global Momentum
The prediction market behemoth has been looking to push its reach in new markets, with Brazil now becoming a new frontier of the company’s sustained interest
Kalshi may be eyeing a Brazilian entry sooner rather than later, with the company’s co-founder, Luana Lopes Lara, arguing that the country is the newest frontier of the company’s efforts.
Kalshi Exploring Brazilian Opportunity in the New Year
Speaking to a local media outlet, Valor, Lara confirmed that Kalshi may be looking to push into the Brazilian iGaming market, building on its global momentum while also offering a product that the company estimates is superior to what is currently available.
An analysis by Citizens has recently disagreed with Kalshi’s claims that their prediction markets are in fact superior to traditional sports betting markets, however.
As Kalshi has hit a valuation of $11 billion, across a series of funding rounds throughout 2025, the company is in a “getting started” mode, meaning that some of its boldest expansion moves are yet to come.
Lara, who is a Brazilian herself, said that she really wanted to see the company take off locally, as it would mean a lot to her personally. Prediction markets would, however, be a completely new phenomenon in Brazil, with Kalshi looking to quickly draw attention to itself.
This would leave it open to regulatory pushback, the sort it already faces back home in the United States, where gaming regulators have pushed back against the federally-regulated platform.
Recently, a court brief by Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford was filed on behalf of 38 states and the District of Columbia, openly opposing the idea that prediction markets may offer sports event contracts.
While uncertainty persists, many companies in the United States have decided to pursue prediction markets, among them established sports betting giants, such as DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics.
Kalshi is currently litigating in several states in the US, including in places such as Massachusetts, Nevada, and Connecticut, with more attorneys general and state gaming regulators mounting an attack.
At the same time, Kraken, a crypto brokerage firm, has teased that it too may be entering the prediction market fray before long, pinning big hopes on the sector’s future despite the regulatory headwinds.
