Jamaica Is Getting a Casino Zone with $4B in Investment Locked In
The Caribbean nation is preparing to capitalize on its tourism industry and give holiday-makers new reasons to visit

Jamaica is looking to revamp Rose Hall into its official casino zone, which is set to come with certain benefits, argues tourism minister Edmund Bartlett.
Jamaica’s Casino Zone to Generate Significant Initial Windfall in Investments
Speaking at the 64th Annual General Meeting of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) on Friday, the minister said that more than $4 billion is expected to be invested in making the zone a world-beating destination for holidaymakers and travelers who want to enjoy various activities, including gambling.
The news of Jamaica moving forward with a dedicated casino zone has already led to the creation of more than 2,000 new hotel rooms, as hospitality giants are expecting an influx of tourists, and not least, tempted by the opening of casino gambling locally.
Bartlett said that the Moon Palace mega hotel will also be arriving, featuring a 33-storey tower, and it is an unprecedented project in its scope and execution for Jamaica.
Jamaican Workers to Be Protected in New Casino Zone
“Next to it will be the Hard Rock Hotel. This area will become Jamaica’s casino zone, without question,” the minister explained. More groundbreaking ceremonies will be taking place in July, as developers are racing to flesh out the future casino zone and ensure that visitors will have a reason to come.
Even more importantly, Bartlett added that Jamaica will work to ensure that the people employed by the sector treat workers with respect and pay them fairly. Casinos are also being lined up, but the exact names of the projects arriving in Jamaica will be revealed later on.
