Illinois Player Won $3M from Mega Millions – Owner Hasn’t Stepped Forward

Good news if you are based in Illinois and happened to be playing the Tuesday drawing for the Mega Millions - there is a chance you have won!

Someone in Illinois has won from the Mega Millions’ Tuesday drawing, scooping up a $3-million prize purse in the process.

While the winner has not stepped forward to claim their reward – or possibly doesn’t know they won – the lottery has been happy to publicize the event, not least because it wants you checking your tickets for the winning one.

Big Illinois Winner Misses Biggest Jackpot by a Single Number

This time, the winning ticket was bought at Qik-N-EZ located at 430 N. Grand Ave. East in Springfield, Illinois. The winning numbers were 12, 39, 43, 49, and 55, with a Mega Ball number of 23 – which the winner missed.

A 3x multiplier was applied to the current draw, turning the $1-million prize into $3 million instead. Damon Cranford, CEO of Chronister Oil Company, commented on the opportunity to see one of the properties sell the winning ticket:

“This store has proudly served the community for more than 26 years and has celebrated many winning lottery moments along the way. While this isn’t the largest prize we’ve ever sold, it’s certainly among the biggest.”

Naturally, the property will also get a small cut to the tune of $30,000, or 1% of the total prize amount. Cranford said that having the chance to share in the moment’s excitement was something that felt special. While the Illinois ticket holder did claim a huge win, there is still much to look forward to as the Friday, February 27, draw is upon us. The draw will have a jackpot north of $458 million, offering players all over the country – and in Illinois – a chance ot scoop the winning ticket.
