Grandmother Wins AU$4M Keno Jackpot and Restless Nights Begin

An anonymous woman in New South Wales, Australia, has fetched an AU$4-million Keno jackpot she won by placing a casual wager, out of habit more so than anything else. Yet, this wager would become the basis of much anxiety in the days to come.

The woman played and won the Keno Classic 10 Spot jackpot in Keno draw 795 at Twin Towns Service Club last Saturday and bagged the eye-watering AU$4.14-million prize. Acknowledging the win, she said that she couldn’t sleep for days and was, in fact, still shaken by the event.

To make things even more surprising, she was not one to usually play Keno and hardly bought many tickets at all – the last one before her win was purchased around three months ago, she shared.

However, it was not really chance that motivated her. When she turned up at the club with her husband, she just felt like she was close to winning something – call it a hunch. And she was right – she won small amounts at first and decided to keep going.

After a few rounds, her husband started making no sense – “what did you do to the machine,” he would ask her, having glanced at the win and begun his own struggle to comprehend it himself. “You have won $400,000,” he added, quickly correcting himself – “no, actually – you’ve won $4 million!”

The woman said that she will now use the money to help her daughter with her mortgage and then make sure she has enough money left for her grandchildren. Sleepless nights or not, her family is now going to be doing much better.
