2025 UEFA Nations League Odds Favor Germany to Win on June 4
Ahead of the 2025 UEFA Nations League semifinal stage, Germany is seen as the odds-on favorite against Portugal. One of the main reasons is that the Finals are taking place in Germany – the semifinal with Portugal will take place at Munich’s Allianz Arena.
Another reason why Germany is favored is that Julian Nagelsmann is bringing heavy guns with him to Munich. Die Mannschaft’s coach has called up all of Germany’s best players who are fit at the moment, including Florian Wirtz, who’s returning after missing the quarterfinal with Italy due to an injury.
Even without their arguably best player, the Germans were able to knock Italy out of the competition. Captain Joshua Kimmich was the best player on the field in both games of the doubleheader with Italy.
He and his colleagues from Bayern Munich are expected to shine in the Nations League semifinal as well, especially Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane. The bad news is that two other Bayern Munich players – Jamal Musiala and Manuel Neuer – will miss the game due to injuries.
Neuer’s absence could be felt as Germany doesn’t seem to have too many options for the goalkeeper position. Hoffenheim’s goalie Oliver Baumann has been Nagelsmann’s first option, but this guy hasn’t met the expectations – he conceded three goals against Italy, making zero saves that evening.
Portugal Hoping to Outscore Germany
We think that everyone in Portugal is aware that this team cannot keep a clean sheet against Germany. In fact, in 2025, no national team seems capable of doing it. In fact, this has been the case for a long time – the last time Germany failed to score a goal in a competitive game was in 2022.
But Germany’s defense doesn’t look great, especially with Baumann between the sticks. You can be 100% certain that Portugal will try to take advantage of this. Another reason why they’ll go heavy on the offense is that they have some pretty great forwards on the roster.
Portugal’s captain Cristiano Ronaldo is their biggest star, but he’s got plenty of talented colleagues who could, perhaps, do even better than him. Liverpool’s Diogo Jota is in great form and so is PSG’s Gonçalo Ramos. Then, there are two AC Milan forwards who mustn’t be underestimated – Rafael Leao and Joao Felix.
Germany vs. Portugal Prediction
We think the crowd in Munich will witness goals galore on June 4. Both teams are bound to score at least once. Still, we do think Germany will score more in the end.
