Former Pornstar Found Guilty of First Degree Murder by Jury For Beheading Ex-husband

A jury found the former pornstar turned real estate agent guilty of first-degree murder.

Devyn Michaels was found guilty and sentenced for the beheading of her ex-husband, Johnathan Willette.

Willette’s decapitated body had been covered in chemicals when it was discovered by his mother.

The 14-panel jury gave its verdict hours after the two-week trial’s closing arguments.

The prosecutors presented Michael’s motives for the murder; they depicted her as someone fueled by jealousy due to sole custody of their children having been given to Willette.

On Thursday, prosecutors brought up the fact that Michaels was married to her ex-husband’s son.  The marriage between Michaels and Willette had lasted for 6 years, from 2012 to 2018.

Later, in 2021, she married Johnathan’s 29-year-old son, Deviere Willette.

Michaels has described both marriages as “out of convenience.”

There was an attempt by Michaels’ defence attorney to blame Deviere for the murder; however, the jury was not convinced.

Michaels’ attorney claimed that Devierre had become enraged after Michaels requested a divorce to get back together with Johnathan. 

Devierre, who himself has testified, said he had no part in his father’s murder.

Damning Interviews

A video was presented on Thursday, which clearly shows Michaels admitting to hitting Willette with a “candlestick-like” object while giving him a massage.

Michaels told this to prosecutors:

“He didn’t say anything. He stopped moving,”

Detective Dennis Ozawa shared information about one of the interviews, which had been carried out.

During said interview, Michaels shared how she had dumped Willette’s head in a bin near her home.

Ozawa then added that Michaels told him that Willette had gone “Bye-bye” after seeing a garbage truck and hearing it beep.

The information concerning the “bye-bye” was not made known to the jury, as it was done without the presence of Michaels lawyer after she had requested one.

Missing Pieces

The weapon with which Willette was murdered and the tools used to decapitate him have yet to be found.

The coroner’s office described a knife and a saw as the most likely items with which the head might have been removed.

Claiming Innocence

Last year, Michaels attempted to revoke a guilty plea where she had admitted to second-degree murder and had made a deal with the prosecution.

The deal would allow for a parole hearing after 15 years.

After Michaels claim of innocence, the case went to trial.

Information concerning this deal was not made known to the jurors.
