FanDuel Opens Second Retail Sportsbook in Illinois

Illinois welcomes the second FanDuel retail location. The company vows to support the location and hire from the local community.
FanDuel Launches Second Illinois Sportsbook Location
FanDuel has revealed a new retail location for its sports betting business at FanDuel Sportsbook & Horse Racing. The property, previously known as Fairmount Park Racetrack, is the latest location in Illinois where sports bettors can head over to place a wager in-person at one of the leading betting companies in the state and country.
The first wager accepted at the sportsbook was a $20 future on Ozzie Smith winning the World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals, an MLB franchise. FanDuel, vice president of retail Keith Wall, commented on the new launch, arguing that it was an important moment for the company.
“This has been a special project for us because our name isn’t just on the sportsbook. It’s on the track itself,” Wall said. FanDuel is committed to revitalizing the track and community around it, the executive explained, and the company will seek to support the region.
This is the 17th retail project for FanDuel in the United States and a second physical location in Illinois. The sportsbook features state-of-the-art self-serving kiosks, TV walls allowing sports fans to follow the action in real-time, and more.
The experience is powered by IGT, an established name in the US sports betting landscape. FanDuel recently argued that it holds around 40% of the sports betting market, ahead of competitors in the country.
Meanwhile, Flutter Entertainment confirmed that it is considering floating FanDuel on a US stock exchange. Investors responded skeptically, pointing out that the initial suggested value is underestimated as FanDuel is already ahead of competitors such as BetMGM and DraftKings.
