FanDuel Backs Special Olympics in 2026, Including Local Initiatives

The sportsbook is bringing inclusivity to the forefront of sports with a new Special Olympics partnership

FanDuel has launched a new partnership with the Special Olympics in a bid to raise awareness for the event and drive its core message to wider audiences – that sports belong to everyone.

Promoting Inclusivity Through Sport

The company has been inspired by the event’s mission as well as the personal stories that some of its employees share and hold dear.

FanDuel Canada General Manager Dale Hooper’s daughter, for example, has been involved in the Special Olympics since the age of six and has been competing in both swimming and rhythmic gymnastics. In a statement, Hooper noted:

“The Special Olympic athletes are just different because their love of the sport and what they’re doing is what shines. There’s still competitiveness in Special Olympics, but there’s also love for everybody who’s out there trying.”

According to Hooper, FanDuel and the Special Olympics have a lot in common, as the company creates an environment where everyone can be themselves, just like the Special Olympics does.

FanDuel is using this opportunity to promote inclusivity across sports and raise awareness of the healthcare disparities that people with disabilities face daily.

“We believe sports have the power to drive positive impact by promoting physical wellness, teamwork, social connection, and community pride,” added FanDuel Advocacy & Public Policy VP Keita Young.

Supporting Local Community Initiatives

FanDuel is similarly looking to back other initiatives designed to promote local efforts. Among those are Polar Plunge challenges, which are designed to raise funds for regional Special Olympics organizations. The events backed by FanDuel will take place in Maryland, Minnesota, and Illinois.

“We are continuing to evolve towards a more community-based impact strategy, one that prioritizes listening to communities, investing locally, and partnering with organizations that are already doing great work,” Young explained.
