Judge’s Ruling in Ongoing Dispute Forces Evolution to Hand Over Key Documents

The row, which has captivated the online gambling world for months, focuses on claims that someone ordered a report targeting Evolution to harm the company’s reputation with regulators. While rumors have spread about a possible out-of-court deal, neither side has shown any sign of giving up.

In the newest update, Judge John C. Porto made a series of decisions that gave wins and losses to each side, making sure the already tricky discovery stage will go on, as reported by Next.io.

Black Cube won a crucial ruling that forces Evolution to hand over more documents linked to the regulatory probe at the center of the case. The judge told the Swedish company to provide the Spectrum Gaming report mentioned in earlier hearings, plus messages and papers shared with both Spectrum and New Jersey’s gaming regulators. They must also release meeting records, talk transcripts, and related files.

Evolution claimed the new document requests were not needed and aimed to drag out the case. Black Cube argued its requests were narrow and crucial for its defense since the court had earlier pointed to Playtech as the source of the first report.

No Settlement in Sight in High-Stakes Casino Case

At the same time, Evolution won its own case in court. The judge ordered that Avi Yanus, a director at Black Cube, must continue his deposition, which was not finished yet. However, the court said no to Evolution’s request to speed up a hearing under New Jersey’s anti-SLAPP laws. The judge explained that they needed to solve problems with evidence and privacy before they could think about a faster schedule.

After the ruling, Black Cube gave a statement. They said they were happy with the decision and were eager to look at all the materials. They hinted that the new information would back up what they had said before and support their claims that people could access Evolution’s games in places where they should not be able to.

Evolution has continuously denied these claims. The company stated that it did a full in-house check when the allegations came up and worked with regulators, saying it trusts its rule-following systems and did not do anything wrong.

The issue has already affected some areas of the gaming tech world after earlier news tied Playtech to ordering the report. With fact-finding still going on and no signs of deal talks, the court battle looks like it will heat up as it moves toward a complete trial.
