Dricus du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev UFC 319 Odds, Time, and Prediction
Dricus du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev is the UFC 316 main event. The two legends are fighting for UFC Middleweight gold at United Center in Chicago on Saturday, August 16
Our du Plessis vs. Chimaev prediction is that the UFC 319 headliner will be a fight to remember. On one side, you have the defending champ who’s a real Swiss-army-knife of a fighter, and who’s undefeated in the UFC with a 9-0 record in Dana White’s promotion.
On the other side is Khamzat, who’s 14-0 and who many believe might challenge for the GOAT status if he keeps on impressing. But he’s a controversial figure with many haters who would love nothing better than seeing him get slammed by DDP on August 16.

Dricus du Plessis Needs to Take the UFC 316 Fight Seriously
Dricus du Plessis is close to being a perfect middleweight. He’s big (6’3), strong, and agile, with an incredible gas tank. In two of his last three fights, he went to a 5-round war with Sean Strickland.
His fight IQ is very high, and he’s got plenty of weapons in his arsenal. The South African is a 2nd degree black belt in kickboxing, which is why it’s no surprise that he lands 6.12 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy of 48%.
His striking is phenomenal, and the best proof of that is that he’s got 9 wins by KO/TKO in his portfolio. What’s interesting, however, is that most of his wins happened by submission. Most recently, he did it against Israel Adesanya in the fight for the title a year ago. Dricus also lands 2.55 per 15 minutes, with his TD accuracy being 50%.
With such numbers, it’s really no surprise that he’s the champion. In our opinion, there’s just one middleweight in the world that may have what it takes to beat him – Khamzat Chimaev.
Reasons Why Khamzat Chimaev’s UFC 319 Odds are -185
We’re gonna be honest with you, until October 26, 2024, we thought Khamzat Chimaev was a fraud. We thought that his undefeated record was the result of pulling out of fights, missing weight, and picking opponents that suit his fighting style.
But then, he left us speechless when he defeated Robert Whittaker with a face crank, dislocating his teeth along the way. It was one of the most impressive submission wins we’ve ever witnessed.

Whittaker, who’s famous for his elite striking and decent TD defense, could only land two significant strikes in that fight. Khamzat took him down twice and then went for a face crank.
His fight plan was good – he probably knew that Bobby had problems with his jaw. Nevertheless, he demolished his teeth with that crank, showing how much power he possesses.
Dricus du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev Prediction
Our prediction is that the Middleweight Division will get a new king at UFC 319. Khamzat Chimaev is the best wrestler in the UFC right now; he’s also incredible when it comes to grappling and also hits like a horse. On top of everything, he’s got incredible fight IQ, as evident from his fight with Whittaker.
Sure, you could say that everything applies to du Plessis as well, but we think that Khamzat is on a whole different level.
Pick: Khamzat Chimaev
