DraftKings Secures License in Arkansas as It Continues with US Expansion

DraftKings has finally obtained a license in Arkansas, after the sportsbook spent a long time outside the state. Critics cited the local revenue sharing model, which they argued would not be sustainable for gambling companies, as they have to share 51% of their revenue with their local partner.

DraftKings Is Ready to Launch in Arkansas, Regulatory Approval Pending 

This, though, has changed now with the company deciding that the revenue-split is no longer a credible deterrent on its path to reaching more sports betting users in the United States. With the Arkansas license, which now involves the Southland Casino Hotel, and remains subject to final regulatory approvals, DraftKings is effectively available to 53% of the US population. 

In Arkansas alone, the DraftKings Sportsbook will have access to 2 million new potential customers. Commenting on this milestone, Gregory Karamitis, DraftKings EVP and general manager of sports, had this to say:

The time of the launch is auspicious as DraftKings expects to be up and running in time for the March Madness event, allowing it to engage with one of the most passionate fan bases out there, and residents of the state finally have the chance to place their wagers remotely on teams they support.
