Couple’s Date Night Turns Them into Millionaires

Joe and Lise Menard of Cache Bay, Ontario, were out on date night on Friday night when they engaged in their customary activities – dining out and stopping at a pit stop to buy their lottery tickets.

This time around, however, things were different, as the couple was soon to uncover one of the most staggering wins they could have ever hoped for. However, it wasn’t the new tickets that brought the win, but sort of – the old ones.

Upon stopping at the venue, the couple first checked some old tickets they had in Lise’s purse – the tickets were all losers. Yet, the clerk offered to replay the numbers rather than use the Quick Pick feature, which randomizes the numbers for players who often find the experience of choosing the numbers themselves excruciating.

This suggestion proved fateful, as the numbers were replayed and just like that, the couple suddenly found themselves winning the top prize – an eye-watering $34 million. The victory occurred on June 21, 2025, and they felt like they had won when they heard that the LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball ticket had been sold in Northern Ontario.

They immediately had an inkling that it might be them who had won. Upon checking on the lottery app the very next day, this premonition came true! At first, Lise thought that they had won $34,000 and were ecstatic, but once they took a second look, the realization dawned, the actual win had a few extra zeroes!

What Momma Wants, Momma Gets

The prize of $34,000,000 is enough for the couple to do a lot of things. They are planning to buy a real diamond ring for his wife, as well as get a few vintage cars, which they like working on, although it’s admittedly Joe who is into the hobby.

As a husband, Joe has been devoted to his wife, and he even came up with the phrase: “What Momma wants, Momma gets.” Now he finally has a nearly unlimited resource to make this a reality.
