A man from Echuca in Victoria, Australia, has much to be happy about, after he won AU$919,034 from the lottery and will now be making some life-changing decisions. For starters, there is his mortgage, which is no more.

Man Wins Big from Victorian Lottery Draw

The winner has said that he would take out the remainder of his mortgage and be debt-free, while also helping his children start on the homeownership ladder as well. The lucky draw concluded on Saturday, July 12, 2025, turning the unwitting player into a big-time winner and nearly a millionaire.

However, the win was not without its twists. For one, the man had not registered his ticket, and finding out that he had won nearly a million dollars, he had to rush to the lottery office and verify his win. What if he did something to damage the ticket or misplace it, and he told the lottery?

“I’ll be paying off the mortgage for sure. Then I’ll put some aside for the kids and their home deposits! I’m sure I’ll enjoy the rest, but be very responsible with it,” the winner told media outlets.

The ticket was bought in Echuca Lucky Lotto, 196 Hare Street, Echuca, and the shop manager, one Eric Davey, was similarly pleased to see another big-time winner walk out the front door.

“We hope our division one winner can enjoy their prize and get to experience their dreams come true. On behalf of the Echuca Lucky Lotto team, congratulations and all the very best,” Davey added.

More details about the winner’s plans are not immediately available. It’s not clear how many children he has or how much he is giving each, for example. However, the money will be put to making sure that they can get a head start on the Great Australian Dream, as it were.
