Codere Designates Gonzaga Higuero as CEO
Higuero teased that his company has many new projects for the future and is looking forward to providing the best gambling experience to its customers

Codere Group/Grupo Codere, a Spain-headquartered gambling operator, has updated its leadership team with a new chief executive officer. The one up to the task is the experienced Gonzaga Higuero who will now be responsible for leading the organization and driving growth.
In his new position, Higuero will enact the operator’s expansion strategy in many key markets. His robust experience in senior roles will come in handy, helping him usher in a new age of growth for the company.
The new appointee boasts an impressive track record. Before joining Codere as its new CEO, Higuero had a four-and-a-half-year tenure as the CEO of Health Transportation Group. During his time with the company, Higuero oversaw an arrangement that saw the transportation group acquired by a new shareholder.
Previously, Codere’s new CEO spent 10 years at Prosegur Cash where he worked in a variety of managing positions. Higuero started his time with the cash management solutions company as managing director for Europe. After three years in the position, he was designated as managing director for South Latin America. Finally, he was promoted to managing director for Europe, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
Higuero Is Excited to Tackle This New Challenge
Higuero is excited to join Codere Group and support the company’s growth in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that his new position is a big challenge and responsibility that he is thrilled to tackle. Higuero teased that his company has many new projects for the future and is looking forward to providing the best gambling experience to its customers.
The new hire was welcomed to the company by Christopher Bell, Codere’s non-executive chair. Bell praised Higuero’s extensive track record, saying that his appointment will reinforce the company and help it to exceed its pre-pandemic growth levels.
Codere Group continues to over-perform, demonstrating steady revenue growth. In May, the company published its FY 2022 results, highlighting a significant recovery in the post-COVID period. In its trading update, Codere posted revenue of $1.44 billion which represents a stellar 67.5% year-on-year increase.
A few months later than that, Codere also posted its Q1 update, showcasing further growth and revenue climb. The company reported revenue of $375.5 million for the period, which translates into a year-on-year increase of 19%.
In other news, the company also expanded its presence through various partnerships, such as its sponsorship deal with Club Atlético Lanús, a sports club from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
