Co-Workers in Illinois Scoop $350K Jackpot

Imagine the surprise on two co-workers’ faces when they realized that their presumed $350 jackpot was, in fact, much larger – six zeroes larger. April and Randy of Ashton, Illinois, were dumbfounded at the discovery, realizing that they had won $350,000 from the Lucky Day Lotto.

Illinois Co-workers Scoop Jackpot 

The jackpot payout happened on January 7, 2026, with a Quick Pick ticket purchased at the Jewel-Osco at 177 E. Roosevelt Rd. in West Chicago. The pair was beyond themselves with excitement.

Playing the lottery, the pair never assumed that they would actually live the day to see themselves as winners, but it was still fun to joke about it and fantasize about what they would do with a potential jackpot windfall.  

“I was taking my wife to a doctor’s appointment and decided to make a quick stop,” Randy said. “We were at the right place at the right time,” he acknowledged.

April continued the story by detailing how the pair initially thought that their win amounted to just $350, only to discover their mistake soon after – when the app displayed $350,000 as the winning amount, “everything changed,” she attested. 

Putting the Money Away for Savings and Retirement 

At the same time, the Jewel-Osco retailer is also going to get the customary fee that is payable in such instances – $3,500. As to the winners, they are already making plans on what to do next. 

Both have decided to earmark the winnings for savings and retirement, although Randy did mention that his wife has been wanting to go to Ireland, but he admitted that he is afraid of flying.

Whatever they do, the pair is walking away $350,000 richer off what started as a joke.
