Ojos Locos Sports Cantina y Casino has officially replaced its William Hill-branded sportsbook with a Boomer’s Sportsbook, marking a new era for the betting hub. The rebranded book held its grand opening yesterday, with North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown placing the first wager.

Boomer’s Sportsbook Replaces William Hill

On its official social media accounts, Boomer’s Sportsbook announced that the opening of the latest venue has been a spectacular success. The brand confirmed that North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown attended the opening ceremony and even placed the first bet.

We had a successful Grand Open event at Ojos Locos Sports Cantina y Casino! A special thank you to the North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown for placing the honorary first bet on the San Francisco 49ers to cover.

Boomer’s Sportsbook statement

The brand published a video of the moment, showcasing Goynes-Brown with her bet slip.

The sportsbook’s transition from William Hill to Boomer’s was officially approved by all relevant regulatory bodies, marking a new age for the gaming property.

In the meantime, the Nevada Gaming Commission supported a Nevada Gaming Control Board recommendation to set a two-year limit on Fifth Street Gaming getting its shares of the sportsbook revenue. After two years, the casino operator will have to secure another approval to share the revenue.

The Property Faced Regulatory Scrutiny

The new sportsbook’s launch comes shortly after regulators voiced concerns about Fifth Street Gaming’s compliance. This followed the identification of certain tax and audit violations at the Ojos Locos Sports Cantina Y Casino property.

The violations were dated to 2023. Despite Fifth Street Gaming’s insistence that its systems have since been improved, NGCB chair Mike Dreitzer remained unconvinced. According to him, recent checks uncovered new failures and lax internal controls.

Fifth Street Gaming expressed commitment to remediating its shortcomings but said that this process may take a while.
