Belal Muhammad’s UFC 315 Odds of -220 Suggest He’s Going to Win

Some fans call Belal Muhammad a boring fighter, but there’s no denying that he’s an elite welterweight. After all, he wouldn’t be the champion of the 170-pound division. This guy is 24-3-11 overall with his last loss happening back in 2019.

After a no contest – due to an eye poke – in the fight with Leon Edwards in 2021, he went on to win the next six fights. The last of those was a rematch with Edwards, in which the two fought for the title.

Belal won the fight by unanimous decision, after putting on a wrestling masterclass. He landed nine takedowns that evening – his highest number since joining the UFC in 2016 – as well as landed 21 more significant strikes than his opponent, who’s famous for his kickboxing skills.

In the UFC Welterweight title fight, Belal showed the world that he’s way more than an elite wrestler. He’s a true MMA athlete with great boxing, a great gas tank, and a great fight IQ.

Can Jack Della Maddalena Cause a Sensation?

Jack Della Maddalena is 17-2 overall with 12 wins by KO/TKO, which shows that this guy is all about striking. He lands just under 7 significant strikes a minute, which is one of the highest averages in the division.

The Australian is an incredible finisher who beat four of his seven UFC opponents in the first round. That said, we don’t know much about his stamina as he’s never fought a five-round fight before.

What we do know is that he’s got some weaknesses, the biggest being wrestling. The evidence is that in his last fight, Gilbert Burns took him down seven times. Sure, Burns is a hell of a wrestler, but so is Della Maddalena’s next opponent, meaning that he might be in trouble.

Belal is our pick for the UFC 315 main event. He’s just better than Della Maddalena. Sure, the Aussie might be a more prolific striker, but the defending champ is superior in practically everything else, including wrestling, which is Della Maddalena’s Achilles heel.
