ANJ Names Pauline Hot Director General as Rémi Lataste Exits

As director general of the French regulator, Hot will replace the outgoing Rémi Lataste who opted to exit the ANJ in favor of a similar position at Campus Condorcet

France’s gambling regulator, L’Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ), has enhanced its leadership with the appointment of a new director general. The one up to the task is Pauline Hot, who will replace the outgoing Rémi Lataste.

Hot Becomes the Authority’s New Director General

According to the ANJ’s official announcement, Hot is a former student of École Normale Supérieure and École Nationale d’Administration. Her past experiences include time as an auditor and then a master of requests at the Council of State.

Hot joined the ANJ in January this year when she was appointed as deputy director general of the regulatory body. The appointment as director general is a testament to her hard work in the previous position and the trust the ANJ has in her abilities.

Lataste Exits the ANJ

As director general of the French regulator, Hot will replace the outgoing Rémi Lataste. Lataste opted to exit the ANJ in favor of a similar position at Campus Condorcet. He spoke on the five years he spent with the ANJ, praising the regulator’s achievements and calling his time at its head a “formidable collective adventure.”

Lataste praised the regulatory body’s continued initiatives to shield minors from gambling harm and prevent excessive gambling. He also hailed the ANJ’s crackdowns on illegal operators and efforts to reform the market and said that they wouldn’t be possible without the exceptional team behind the ANJ.

A huge “thank you” to everyone – both within the ANJ and among our various institutional partners – who have made these last five years equally passionate and productive.

ANJ Published Real Progress Report

Speaking of progress, the ANJ just published its latest activity report, offering insights into the evolution of French gaming five years after the country’s sweeping reforms.

The regulator reported significant progress in certain areas, especially when it comes to compliance. The ANJ praised its licensees for meeting their AML and excessive gambling obligations and being a part of the efforts to create a healthier market.

At the same time, the ANJ reported a significant increase in the number of self-excluded players. While this suggests that self-exclusion services are more visible than ever, it also implies an increase in the total number of at-risk individuals.
