AGA Launches New Online Resource Dedicated to Tackling Problem Gambling
The association has introduced a new online resource which it wants to see players actively engage with out of their own will

The American Gaming Association has launched a new effort to help consumers across the nation steer away from unregulated gambling and, more importantly, find out more about sustainable play and responsible gambling.
To address this, AGA has launched its new Play Smart Consumer Hub, an online resource that is dedicated to helping educate players about the potential risks of offshore gambling as well as raising awareness for responsible play and what the term means.
Play Smart from the Smart Becomes AGA’s Advice to Players
AGA wants players to “Play Smart from the Start,” which is also a dedicated messaging platform that focuses on helping players make informed and responsible decisions about their gambling while also making sure that the experience is fun.
AGA President and CEO Bill Miller welcomed the arrival of the new platform, hailing it as a major milestone in the association’s development as a champion of RG and positive play. In a statement, Miller explained:
“The AGA is committed to making responsible gaming a seamless part of the player experience. Part of the fun of gaming is that everyone plays differently, but no matter how or where you play, staying in control starts with habits that work for you. The Play Smart Consumer Hub provides players with straightforward, actionable tools to help them stay in control and keep gaming fun.”

AGA wants to see consumers actively engage with the newly-launched online resource, not just know about its existence. Rather, the association will seek to engage more proactively with players and educate them about its core messages.
However, a key and specific focus here is not so much to analyze player behavior, or even tell people that they have a specific problem with gambling. Rather, AGA wants to make sure that everyone understands that there are many optimized tools available online that can help them enjoy their gambling sessions better.
Resources Meant to Empower the Player, Not Hinder Them
There are many simple and yet efficient practices that AGA wants to promote, such as asking players if they need a break, or even asking them if they want advice in order to calibrate the level and intensity of their play.
Among what is being offered in the resource are core tenets such as Right State of Mind, Know the Game, and Act Intentionally, which are self-explanatory but go into detail to offer a different value-added experience.
There is also a Responsible Gaming IQ Quiz as well as a Pre-Play Checklist to further empower the player’s decision-making process.
