Advocacy Group Asks Why Israeli National Arrested in Las Vegas Allowed to Leave Country

The Israeli official who was arrested during a child predator sting operation in Las Vegas is still grabbing headlines, despite his country’s denial of the incident

A senior cybersecurity expert from Israel, and the head of the Israel National Cyber Directorate, was supposedly arrested in Nevada, United States. He was lured by investigators to a third location where police officers waited for him and several other people who believed they were going to have sexual intercourse with minors.

Israeli Official Allowed to Leave US Despite Serious Charges Involving Minor

The allegations have been tersely denied by Israel’s Prime Minister’s office, which said that no arrest occurred, and that the individual supposedly involved did not hold a diplomatic visa. The man was also not detained before indictment, and he supposedly returned to Israel.

Now, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Muslim civil rights and advocacy group, has called for the man’s extradition and arrest. Specifically, CAIR has filed federal Freedom of Information Act and Nevada Public Records Act requests that would clarify how the man was allowed to leave the United States.

Further reports suggested that the suspect was alleged to have been approaching a 15-year-old girl, whom he insisted he believed to be 18 years old. KLAS-TV/Las Vegas, a media outlet, suggested that the man brought condoms and was planning to take the girl to a Cirque du Soleil show, which could back his thesis that he believed was believing to be meeting a consenting adult.

The issue, CAIR argues, stems from the fact that a non-diplomatic official from another country was released on bail and allowed to leave the country while facing serious charges – luring a child with a computer for sexual activity.

In a statement, the advocacy group said that there could be no “get out of jail free cards” for foreign officials who are booked on felony charges.

“The protection of children, the integrity of the justice system, and the principle that no individual, foreign official or otherwise, is above the law demand full transparency and accountability,” the statement read.

CAIR is now determined to track the processes that allowed this to happen, and why the person was released on bail when it must have been known that he was visiting temporarily.
