Washington’s Lottery officials announced that a lucky player from Snohomish County has hit the Hit 5 jackpot. The win came ahead of the October 2 drawing, causing the jackpot to be reset.
The Winning Ticket Was Sold in Monroe
According to the official announcement, an unidentified winner managed to correctly match all five winning numbers to win the jackpot, which stood at $230,000 at the time. The win happened during the October 1 drawing, when the winning numbers stood at 5, 10, 12, 28, and 36.
As it turned out, the winning ticket was purchased at the Jacksons convenience store at 13885 Fryelands Blvd. in Monroe.
For context, the Hit 5 players need to select five numbers between 1 and 42, with tickets costing a single dollar. Participants can either select their numbers or pick the Quick Pick system to automatically randomize an entry.
The Hit 5 jackpot starts at $100,000 and continues to increase with every drawing, until a lucky player manages to match all five winning numbers. The odds of winning the jackpot stand at 1 in 851,000, according to Washington’s Lottery.
The jackpot was since reset to $100,000. After failing to elect a winner during the October 2 drawing, the lottery increased the jackpot to $105,000.
The next drawing is set to take place at 8 pm on October 3.
