The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) has appointed a new person at the helm, with the regulator picking Alana Zimmer as its new Executive Director.
The appointment was confirmed on Thursday, October 30, and Zimmer will take over one of the biggest gambling regulators in the country. She will be tasked with protecting the integrity of gaming activities in Florida.
Zimmer Takes Over at a Time of Dynamic Growth for Florida Gambling
Commenting on Zimmer’s appointment, FGCC vice chair Julie Imanuel Brown had this to add:
Alana has shown outstanding leadership throughout her career, and I am confident she will work hard to eliminate illegal gambling and support Florida citizens and businesses. “We welcome Alana back to Florida and Tallahassee, where she went to college at Florida State University. We are excited to see where all her talents and skills will take FGCC.”
Commenting on her appointment, Zimmer said that she was honored to be appointed to the job and referred to her experience.
Zimmer Has a Track Record of Driving Innovation and Boosting RG
Zimmer notably served at the Kansas Lottery, where she helped modernize the lottery’s offer and also worked on expanding the responsible gambling commitments, something that she intends to build on in her new role as executive director.
“ I look forward to working closely with the governor and legislature on improving and expanding responsible gaming in Florida,” Zimmer added.
Zimmer’s appointment comes at an interesting time for the regulator. Hard Rock Bet has, for example, launched a slots-like experience inspired by historical NASCAR races, which is based on an existing rule in the compact between the state and the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
