Getting a job as a live dealer is usually a cushy number. The casinos want to train you and usually pay for this. The salary isn’t too bad, and if you are a great host, you can get plenty of tips.

However, for some people, this isn’t enough. E.S., a 42-year-old resident of Paradise, Pennsylvania, is suspected of stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of casino chips, taking advantage of his trusted position as a Senior Table Games Dealer.

Live Dealer Gets Caught After Dropping a Single Chip

A criminal complaint dated August 7, 2025, has revealed details of the case. Police said that personnel were alerted about the potential theft after a single chip was found in an area of the casino where the chip simply couldn’t exist, unless someone with the right access brought it in there.

Even then, a person would have no reason to take chips away from the gaming floor. This prompted an internal investigation at first, which included a review of the available security footage. The culprit was confronted by both the casino’s management and an individual employee who suspected him, but he denied any wrongdoing in the matter.

However, security footage showed that E.S. did not comply with customary live dealer protocol, during which they would “wipe” their hands to show that they were not hiding anything. The footage showed E.S. showing only one hand and holding the other up in a fist, before making a motion towards his pocket with it.

Investigators Quickly Track the Culprit

Footage going back a month was reviewed by investigators who established that E.S. has allegedly stolen as much as $7,875 worth of chips. He has been dismissed from work, and he is currently in York County Prison with a bail set at $5,000. He is due to appear for a preliminary hearing on August 22, 2025.

E.S.’s case is not the only instance of a dealer going rogue, with numerous instances throughout the years of casino staffers falling into temptation and lifting chips in the hopes of nobody noticing.
