In the last 10 USMNT vs. Costa Rica duels, the Americans came out victorious on seven occasions. The 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup odds suggest they’re going to win in the June 29 game as well. However, we call for caution as Mauricio Pochettino’s men haven’t been too impressive in this tournament, at least not so far.

Reason Why USMNT’s Odds Favor Them to Win

The USMNT are second on the list of the 2025 Gold Cup favorites, with betting odds of +200 (just behind Mexico at +170). However, their new coach Mauricio Pochettino did not pick his best roster for this competition. Christian Pulisic, Timothy Weah, and a few other stars are left out.

Their Gold Cup roster is made of mostly of players from the MLS, with a couple of notable exceptions. Their top scorer in this tournament, Malik Tillman, is a PSV playmaker, while his colleague from the midfield, Aaronson Brenden, is playing for Leeds.

Those guys have been great so far in the Gold Cup, but fans are wondering if they can carry the team all the way to the Final. This goes especially because a major test comes their way this coming Sunday when they play against tricky Costa Rica.

Can Costa Rica Upset the Odds on June 29?

In their most recent game, Costa Rica managed to hold Mexico to a 0:0 draw. The man most responsible for this is legendary goalkeeper Keylor Navas. The former PSG goalie is turning 39 later this year, but he’s been playing great.

The same goes for several other of his colleagues who are in their 30s, most of whom play in the defensive line – Francisco Calvo, Juan Vargas, and Joseph Mora. Costa Rica’s defense has plenty of experience, which is a huge advantage in big games – such as the one against the USMNT.

When it comes to the midfield and attack, their key men are talented youngsters hungry for success. Twenty-year-old Josimar Alcocer has been their standout player. He’s a talented playmaker, but there’s a major question mark on whether he can outsmart the USMNT’s defenders.

USMNT vs. Costa Rica Prediction

This game has the word draw written all over it. We think we won’t see too many goals, with the match possibly ending in a 0:0 draw after 90 minutes. In fact, we could see a penalty shootout deciding the winner.
