The heavy guns of the iGaming world are all entering Sweden in a bid to claw the lion’s share of the newly-legalized market. The companies to join Sweden include Betway, BetClic, Everest, and The Stars Group among many others.
New Companies Issued Gambling Licenses in Sweden
The Stars Group has become one of the latest companies to enter the Swedish market via a newly-obtained license for TSG Interactive, a subsidiary. The company has managed to win both sports betting and online gaming licenses provided and approved by the country’s gambling authority, the Lotteriinspektionen.
As a result, TSG Interactive will launch a series of websites using “.se” for a domain name. The brands to arrive include PokerStars’ casino and card room, Full Tilt, and BetStars. The Stars Group will be far from the last group to has entered the market, with Betway having obtained a license on part with TSG.
Betway will provide local customers with multiple online casino and sports betting options. BetClic Everest Group’s Nordic subsidiary, Expekt is also making a push in the country. Tipwin, a Malta-licensed company is all gearing up to launch a similar offer as well. All companies will gain access to the market once it opens on January 1, 2019.
Licensing Deals in Sweden Abound
Apparently, the flagship brands will not be alone in making a claim on the Swedish market, with a number of other licensed companies willing to provide service. Mandalorian Technologies, another Maltese business is also looking to obtain a Swedish license, on top of its existing certification from Government of Curacao and Malta Gaming Authority’s permits.
Mandalorian Technologies could potentially offer a nice and refreshing touch to the whole process of playing online casino games. Mandalorian uses a no-account play which is available at noaccountcasino.com.
So far, the country has seen 20 companies approved and issued a license since November 30, 2018. The Lotteriinspektionen has been working around the clock to make sure that all companies will receive their proper legal documentation to be able to start as early as possible and immediately after the law comes into effect.
Apart from TSG and Betway, a number of other companies have already managed to obtain a Swedish permit, including GVC Holdings, Kindred Group, Betsson, LeoVegas. Sweden long opposed the regulation of online casinos, which left the country open to offshore bookmakers, where the majority of gamers placed their bets or played online games.
This has led to diminishing standards across the industry as a whole, leaving many open to gambling harm and addiction, without a proper public discourse. The gambling regulator will be rebranding as Spelinspektionen come January, 2019 and it will make sure to uphold the highest standards оf integrity and customer protection.
Denmark has recently been cited as the only country in the Europe that has managed to uphold the necessary level of protection for players , making it a lodestar on the continent. Sweden is very likely to follow in the same steps and introduce an iron-clad offer that benefits business and players in equal measure.
